This photo is of a holiday cottage in Dargle, set in the Midlands Meander, in the province of KwaZulu Natal, in South Africa. The cottage was built around 1840. The walls are solid stone and over a foot thick. The interior of the cottage is plastered with dung, as was the custom back then. Now before you go "eeew", there is no smell or any indication that there is anything other than regular plaster on the walls and painted, of course. The furnishings were all antique.... truly a beautiful place where magical memories were made. This photo was taken in the early morning mist before we headed out for the day's hike.
